Improving Vocabulary For GRE

For me, improving my vocabulary was probably the single most famous factor responsible for the high verbal acquire.

2. Barron's How to Prepare for the GRE Test



This is a general GRE preparation book, but it has a very profitable and very long vocabulary list. It usually has one or two examples per word to give you some context. It included almost all of the WordSmart words plus a lot more (I judge entire list is 2500-3000 words) . I found it useful to go over this list after learning WordSmart words. This method it wasn't so intimidating and it was very encouraging to leer how many words I remembered.



3. Flashcards.



As I mentioned before I found flashcards very useful. There are different software programs that emulate flashcard experience and urge on pocket pc or a Smartphone. I tried LingvoSoft and it was salubrious, though I serene preferred regular paper versions and felt that I could memorize more words that plot.



4. Ask.com pronunciation guide.



Ask.com has a cold dictionary allotment with a pronunciation guide (it will actually play a sound bite of how the word is pronounced) and synonyms for the selected word.

5. The Wizard of Oz Vocabulary Builder by imprint Philips



This a magnificent frigid book, it introduces "GRE and SAT type" words in the context of a sage to ease memorization. I didn't pick up it as useful as the Word radiant book, yet it was a nice change from unprejudiced memorizing disconnected words. Every unique "grand" word is explained on the same page, with more examples to construct it easier to remember words. Overall it was a graceful pleasant, though a somewhat slower draw of increasing vocabulary for GRE.



The same author also wrote I haven't read this book, but capture it's in the same format as the "Wizard of Oz" book
