Ultimate PocketPC Settings-part II

So what do you think of flashing a new disk on your POCKET PC (PDA)? There are several things to consider before you get going.
-Where do you find the DISK?
-What is the "Chef" and do what they do?
-What you want from your drive?
There are a number of places on the Internet where you can find the ROM, and I will give you some of my favorite places. Modaco is a great site where you can support you PPC as well as custom ROMs.Another site-PPCGeeks here you will also find the settings for your PDA and cutomizations as well as new disks. last but not least there XDADevelopers. I believe, XDA be Pantheon ROM developing gods. If you have an HTC phone, or phone, HTC, but under a different brand of XDA is the place for you. Each disc, I never liked I found on XDA, and I'm now let's take a look there for most every day to see what's new.
Now you don't need to be a genius to Flash the new firmware, but you have to be pretty darn clever to make the disk.The guys with the SMARTS to configure ROMs for your phone, called "chefs": what does "Chef" is to take the operating system from a manufacturer or directly from Microsoft and cooks in his "kitchen" add programs, you can also customize the UI and do so more quickly. Without these "chefs" our poor shift is doomed to a sluggish, filled with bloatware. These guys are doing most of all their ROM cooking because love, makes him and all the sites I mentioned here is free for anyone to use. If you decide to use the "Chef" disks, you can make a donation to them for all the hard work they do.I'm very grateful for all the work they put into these drives.
You have found a place to get your drives and most likely you have many options in front of you.I will be talking about XDA, because this is where I get all my ROMs, these days.If you have HTC TouchPro and go to the XDA your going to have many options.Be careful when selecting your disk you choose is compatible with a version of TouchPro (CDMA or GSM) for example ATT version TouchPro is called a fuse and so only choose the ROMs from Raphael ROM development forum GMS phone. Rafael is HTC codename to TouchPro and XDA from the manufacturer.
Once in the correct forum you will find 6 or 7 regular "cooks" that offer a number of ROMs all with different settings. my recommendation would be to try several until you find one that works for you; you will find lots of help from disk at XDA flashing, if you have any questions or problems: I'll go over the ROM flashing soon to follow.
